What was the highlight of Hotel Route-Inn Iyo-Saijo

Wonderful

The cleaning staff did a really good job. The sheets were clean and the room too. The front desk is kind and understanding. The breakfast staff is polite and there is a good variety of foods.

I used the hotel to hike Ishizuchisan, but it’s a 30min walk from Iyo-Saijo station BUT the hotels offers a shuttle car service during the weekdays.

Great location. Ample free car parking. And the staff were very welcoming.

The breakfast was not up to their usual standard. It was so bad I skipped it on the 2nd morning.

Good location

Location was great for our travel purpose and convenient for shops and restaurants. A big car park was good as well.

The only disappointment was that they ran out of many things even coffee(!) before the breakfast time was over, which was very poor. If it's supposed to be served between 0630 and 0900, you should be able to enjoy your breakfast even if you turn up at 0900. We went to breakfast at 0830 and were made to feel that we were scraping off leftovers and a staff said, "no more coffee". . . He did apologize and offered to bring us some from the reception area where a coffee machine was provided (which we declined and did it by ourselves ) Receptionists apologized when we checked out and we could tell they were short-staffed and they were all very pleasant, so that didn't spoil our stay, but we could have started our day with a fuller tummy!

The room was nice (non-smoking would have been better, but see above). Decent bed and good amenities. A regular business hotel. The small onsen was was great and very relaxing.

I (accidentally) stayed in a smoking room which made my stay less pleasant than it could have been. How smokers can sleep in rooms smelling of old smoke is a mystery to me. This was entirely my fault, but I didn't expect the night to be that bad...

The facilities were great and the staff was helpful, but the breakfast situation was very confusing.

I only received one breakfast ticket even though I had stayed for 2 nights. I had not received an explanation as to why I only received on ticket instead of two. Ultimately, I had so many committments that I did not use the one ticket I had, but I had expected to receive two breakfast tickets.

I didn't like that I had only receive one breakfast ticket even though I had paid for two nights with two breakfasts to my knowledge. I have never stayed at a hotel that only gives one for two nights.

A little uncomfortable but worth it none the less.

Staff were very friendly, and the breakfast buffet started nice and early. We went to the island to hike some of the mountains in the area, so it was a nice central spot not far from most food places and had decent parking

The bed was very uncomfortable, but we also got a cheaper room. Room was fairly small but we could fit all of our items and ourselves just fine. All in all worth it for what we paid.

It emitted a strong odor that resembled the smell of stale smoke, like the previous occupant had smoked in the room and it hadn't been cleaned properly. I had to keep the air purifier on throughout the night. It was a rather unpleasant experience.

Very disappointed.

Beds are comfortable

The hot bath is very basic and the breakfast just horrible. Japanese buffet is poor, no fresh fruits and almost no bread. The hotel is in industrial suburb without any nice restaurants around. The Route-Inn of Ofunato is much better.

Wonderful

Super clean and comfortable room. Despite it being a very standard Japanese hotel room, it does manage to exceed expectations in all the little details, from the quality bedding to the comfortable desk chair. Also the bathhouse stays open until 2am, super handy.
